Monday Menu Share and Catch-Up

Happy Monday!  I apologize for being so quiet over the weekend.  I took some time away from everything to spend with my family.  I had an amazing weekend.  Saturday was a little rough because of the stupid migraine, but I made the best of it.  And yesterday we went to the Indianapolis Colts game and tailgated before the game.  We had so much fun (even though we lost badly).  There were some great memories made yesterday with family and friends.  While at the game, I noticed 2 NSV’s (non-scale victories).  First, I fit in the stadium seat much better than I did at the last game we went to a couple years ago.  I was not squished and did not feel like I was overflowing!  Also, at previous games, I have always prayed I wouldn't need to use the bathroom because I didn't want to have to climb the stairs until I had to.  Yesterday, I went to the bathroom 3 times and was hardly even winded at the stairs.  AND I am only down 1/3 of what I want to be.  Imagine how I will feel in another year!  And one more thing that happened yesterday was I took a picture of me and my hubby and for the first time ever, I actually thought I looked nice.  That is huge for me!!!!!!! So I am sharing the pic with you today!!!

Today has started off well.  I got my 4 mile walk in, but I am still struggling with this big toe hurting.  I am hoping I get relief soon from the meds the doctor gave me.  If not, he wants me to have a bone scan done.  Because it is Monday, I am sharing my menu with you for the week (NOTICE: some things are repeats from last week because of a plan change).

Monday: Taco Salad
Tuesday: Turkey Smoked Sausage, Mac and Cheese, Oven Roasted Potatoes, and a veggie
Wednesday: Grilled Steaks, Baked Potatoes, and a veggie
Thursday: Meatloaf Muffins, Mashed Potatoes, and a veggie
Friday: Leftover night
Saturday: Birthday Party Day for my youngest so I think dad is grilling Burgers and Dogs
Sunday: Chili

I am a few days behind on my 30 days of thankfulness so I am catching up today.

November 9: Today I am thankful for my baby sister, Kathy.  She has grown into such an amazing woman and mother.  I am so proud of her and so thankful for the encouragement she gives me!!!

November 10: Today I am thankful for the power of prayer.  This typhoon has hit the Philippines and I am praying for the people there.  We have adopted a child there through Compassion and the last message I got could not confirm his safety.  He has been a part of our family for almost 3  years and I am praying for him and his family.   Here is our boy, John:

November 11:  Today I am thankful for all the men and women who are and have served our country in anyway.  Our lives would not be what they are today without all of you.  A THANK YOU doesn’t seem like enough, but it is a place to start.

That is all for today folks!  See you all tomorrow!

Kari

FRIDAY!!!!!!

FRIDAY!!!  Another week is coming to an end.  It has been a pretty good week (minus the headaches).  I am really looking forward to going to the Colts game on Sunday with family and friends!!  We are going to have so much fun.

I have really started to realize that I have to eat to lose weight. I eat real food, not all “diet” food.  I am always so fearful that if I enjoy a food, I won’t lose weight.  That is so false.  The weeks I lose more are the weeks I eat most of my points.  I am not on a diet, this is a lifestyle.  I don’t deprive myself of certain foods; I work them into my plan.  Now that doesn't mean I eat candy every day, but yesterday I enjoyed some Reese’s Cups and tracked them and enjoyed every bite.  I am learning how to have a “treat” and not a binge.  That is why I think this go around of getting healthy is working better for me.  I am learning how to live around food, learning to fit the things I want into my plan.  Now I am not saying that my way is the only way. There are so many different ways to lose weight and get healthy.  We each have to find what works for us as an individual and not judge another person for the way they choose to do it.  I share my journey for my own personal accountability, not to tell you how to eat or exercise.  Yes, I love to see my number of “likes” go up, but lately it has been going down.  People are unliking me.   I thought it would bother me, but it doesn’t.  I don’t want anyone to follow me that doesn't like what I have to say.  This is a record of my journey and I love sharing it with others.  This is not for fame or money or notoriety; it is for me!

November 8 – Today I am thankful for my sister, Krissy.  She moved closer to me this last year and it has been such a help to have her to help me out.  I love her more than she realizes!!!

Well, gonna go for now.  Planning on making some white chicken chili and baked oatmeal tomorrow!!!

Don’t let the weekend get you off of your plan!  Keep on keeping on!

Keep Losing,

Kari

Thursday Weigh-In Results!!!

Happy Thursday!  Today was weigh-in day.  I was feeling kinda puny so I just weighed in and did not stay for the meeting.  I was down 1.4 more pounds!!!!!!!  That makes a total of 93.4 pounds gone since November 1, 2012.  I am so excited.  I am close to 2 major milestones for me:

1.      Losing 100 pounds
2.     Getting under 300 pounds

I cannot wait until I reach these!!!  I entered my weight lost into ILostWhat and I have lost the equivalent of 55 bottles of wine!  Wow!!

My goal for November was to walk and bike a combined 50 miles.  So far in November I have gone 18.14 miles so I am on track for accomplishing that goal.

Today’s post will be short and sweet.  I have really struggled this week with migraines and I have battled one all day today.  I wanted to post and update you all on my weigh-in.  Today is a scheduled rest day and my plan now is to hit the couch for the next hour until the boys get home from school.

November 7:  Today I am thankful for Weight Watchers.  This has been the only thing that has worked for me and is teaching me to live a healthier life that I can maintain for the rest of my days here on earth.  And special thanks to my leader, Georgena.  You inspire me, you encourage me, and you are amazing!!!!

I know some of you are struggling with things and I still struggle every day.  I want you to know that there is HOPE!!  You can change things, you can do things, and you are not stuck here.  I started out over 400 pounds and am still over 300 pounds and I have managed to walk and bike 18 miles already this month.  Don’t doubt what you are capable of.  Anything is possible!!

Bye bye for now!

Keep Losing,

Kari
